"The Lasergewehr fires high energy laser beams that if focused on one spot can overheat thin sheets of metal until they melt."
―Description of the Lasergewehr.[src]

The Lasergewehr (lit. "Laser Rifle") later named the Laserhammer (lit. "Laser Hammer") in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, is a heavy weapon that is first introduced in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, The Lasergewehr is one of the new primary weapon for Super Soldier 1961, along with taking the role that the MG-60 had in Wolfenstein: The New Order as a heavy emplacement weapon. Like the Dieselgewehr, the Ubergewehr, or the Hammergewehr, it is classified as a heavy weapon that can deal great damage to armored enemies and mechanical units.

Description

The New Colossus

The Lasergewehr is a Nazi energy weapon in use by 1961. Lasergewehrs are painted black, and consisting of a metal chassis likely containing a kind of focusing crystal or lens in the front of the weapon, and a rudimentary mechanical stock. The body of the weapon is covered in wires and electrical components, as well as a geared mechanism in the middle of the stock. When the Lasergewehr is charging, these gears spin, emitting a red glow and exhibiting red lightning. This may indicate that the gears act as part of the laser pump components and that the lasing medium of the Lasergewehr requires a large amount of energy to function.

It fires a red laser beam capable of melting metal sheets or vaporizing biomass. The firing mechanism requires a short time to fully cycle up, after which the weapon can be fired in quick bursts or as a sustained beam, the latter rapidly draining its power reserves.

The Lasergewehr requires an electrical charge to function and the many locations where it is found contain multiple charging stations. It can hold up to 400 kWh of charge once the Heavy Weapons Kill perk is maxed out to level 5. The Lasergewehr’s size and weight slows the player's movement and prevents it from being added into the inventory as a permanent, swappable weapon. It can be found as a stationary weapon emplacement or dual wielded by Super Soldiers.

It is also noticeable by its iconic sound, and melting opponents in seconds.

Youngblood

Laserhammer are still in service in 1980 and remain the same as their 1961 versions, just now found in a more gunmetal grey paint scheme.
