In Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny, Dog Food is a healing item that gives the player 4 health points when picked up. Dog Food only appears in maps that have Dogs, often in regions where Dogs may be found.
Strategies
At 95+ health, it can be considered a waste to use a Medkit or Food to heal, but Dog Food is less of a critical item so it's expendable. With low HP, on the other hand, it can give B.J. the health boost he needs to survive a shot or two.
Trivia
- The Wolfenstein 3D Source Code refers to Dog Food as "Bad food". This may be a remnant from earlier in development, as other parts of the source code make references that clearly are not true in the final game.[1]
- The name of the Dog Food entity is "bo_alpo". Alpo is a brand of dog food which did indeed exist during World War II.[1]
- In the SNES port, dog food is replaced with cheese to match the Rats.
